History of Nursing Research Colloquium

The UK Association for the History of Nursing, Research Colloquium will be held on 10th July 2018 at the University of Chester. The Colloquium has a proud tradition of providing a supportive environment and space for researchers to present work in progress and obtain feedback for further development of their research.
The history of nursing is a well-established field of academic study, pursued both by nurse-historians and by researchers from other disciplines, including history itself, English literature and sociology to name a few. Its interdisciplinarity is reflected in the themes which run through nursing history conferences: gender and race studies, colonial history, transnational relationships, class, politics and international studies, in addition to the development of nursing science and practice.

The cost for the colloquium will be £30 to include lunch and refreshments (unwaged £15). Book via Eventbrite.
Venue
The colloquium will be held at the University of Chester’s Riverside building, Castle Drive, Chester, CH1 1SL. The colloquium will be hosted by the University of Chester’s Faculty of Health and Social Care’s Historical Society and during the day there will be the chance to visit the Riverside Museum .
The Riverside Building is approximately a 20-30 minute walk and a short taxi ride from the train station. The nearest car park is the Little Roodee car park (also on Castle Drive). Chester also has a park and ride system, and a number of other carparks.
Accommodation
There are number of hotels within walking distance. Next to the building is Edgar House , and there are a number of nearby guest houses (including Grosvenor Place Guest House), pubs that offer accommodation and hotels including a Travelodge (Chester Central) and Holiday Inn Express (Chester Racecourse). Chester
Chester is a historical city and during the week that the colloquium is on, the famous Chester Mystery Plays will be taking place in Chester Cathedral every weekday evening at 7.30pm. Early booking of accommodation is therefore advised.
